Hello! My name is Stella Tinsley and I am currently16 years old. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. At the age of three, I told my mom I wanted to take lessons, so she found Nancy Frost, and I have been riding ever since. I truly do not know what I would do without horses in my life.
I started competing at five years old and continued to ride two days a week at Los Angeles Equestrian Center. I would compete when the local Gold Coast shows were on site. Over time, these two days a week have now turned into six days a week with 2-5 horses a day. With a Mom who is a dressage rider, she always made sure I had a few lessons a month to focus on my flat work. To say I’m grateful is an understatement. Although my horse was out with an injury all of the 2025 season, I could not be more grateful for the support and opportunities that have been brought to me this past year. I have had the privilege of riding my trainer’s horse, Lyla, continuing to be competitive in the show arena, competing in the 3’3-3’6 equitation, and I have been able to catch ride and make new connections in the equestrian community. Most recently, I have started competing in the Talent Search.
I am currently a Junior at Mayfield Senior School in Pasadena, CA. I am very focused on my academics and get good grades. I am part of the National Honors Society and am currently working on organizing a clothing drive. I am also Co-Head of the club, Cubs Helping Paws, at my school and am working to organize dog/cat food and toy drives.
Having the opportunity to ride at the collegiate level would be a huge milestone for my riding career. It would confirm that every hardship, opportunity, loss, and win has paid off and brought me to where I believe I am meant to be. I am eager to find the right university for me that includes the opportunity to ride for an NCAA Division 1 Equestrian Team. This sport has done so much for me and my growth as a person, such as teaching me responsibility, maturity, and a strong work ethic. I am so excited to commit to my future team!
